Guess who's back!!
Blogging has become the norm for so many people and 1 thing i hate is when it looks or feels like im becoming "1 of the pack' aka follow follow
I started blogging in 2009 and truthfully it was some of the most enjoyable moments of my life.
sitting at my desk at No Surprises, criticising my fave song and posting the link and knowing i could go back and critique my own critique was enough for me
Like many others, when people actually started to read my blog, their comments and contributions started to affect my style of blogging and rather than allow that, i decided to stop blogging all together
Being able to just write how i feel is my ideal blogpost.
How i feel about a song, how i feel about a celebrity or an event
How i feel about the government.
I love the power of having my own forum to speak, just the way i want
I am not a journalist, I am not a writer, I am not a reporter
My name is Shade Ladipo and I just like to blog....SUE ME!!
I'm Back!!
Sunday
SMVA WTF LOL BRB
First off these are MY opinions about the parts of the show which i watched live at the Eko Hotel Hall, Oya lets go!
Its amazing that after the first MAMA's award which was held in Abuja, no Nigerian Awards show as been able to replicate anything similar to what was done during that show. Agreed the 1st MAMA's had its low point but still, they were a perfect example of how to do/not to do Award Ceremonies.
The host of the show was Uti Nwachukwu who was in all ramifications as boring as a log, he was confident but was feeling himself too much.
So the SMVA's first off the nominations saw BankyW leading the nominations (Thank God he picked at least 2 of them), then there were many african representatives (half of which I've never watched/seen their videos) then finally, the SMVA was very fashion oriented which was cool.
There were performances by P Square, The EME crew, Storm (Sasha and YQ), upcoming acts (ill assume were from the Coded tunes stable), some african performers (yawn) and then there was ASA.
Without a doubt Asa's performance was the best followed closely by the EME crew and then Sasha P (with her back up singer who stole the show).
P Square were impressive but lacked creativity (only creativity was probably their shiny jackets and maybe Kaffy who was strutting her stuff-the girl dey move sha)
Young Skales, Wizkid and BankyW killed their performance especially Wizkid who was giving us some kind dance step that proved that without doubt he is gonna be around for a loooong time!
The storm crew proved their worth thanks to Sasha who was introduced by Bez on the guitar and then guys with trumpets (who didnt play it) and 2 dancers and 1 singer.
YQ was quite boring on stage even though he performed his hit single 'I like girls'. He didn't seem like he had a plan for his performance and I really doubt if he really likes girls. ;)
The offf parts of the show were the rain, the fact that all award presenters had to share microphones (like really SoundCity, ya'll didnt have enough mics), even during the performances there were never enough mics (JEEZ)
The podium on stage looked like the podiums used in up coming churches and the stage was short of Bleh! Very boring and lacked any form of creativity.
The seating arrangement was iffy with VIP being up in the gallery, nominees right in front and the screaming crowd (who shuld have been in front) were at the back.
In a whole, I would give the show 5/10
Trivia
The Choc Boys were no where in the scene
D'banj doesn't have an afro
Wande Coal wasn't present (R2bees who were supposed to perform weren't there, atleast i dont think so)
There were specific red carpet IV's which didn't make any sense at all
The half naked men on stage (eeeerrrm)
Mr. Nigeria 'Can I hear your hands up'
Mike Anyasodo was dedicating his
The Ogungbes (Kenny and KSB) blessed us with their fabulous articulation
The VOICE OVER ARTISTE back stage (No Comment)
Looking forward to the NMVA's??? and the MAMA's
I am Entertained!!!

Give me Mo'hits
Okay first off I would say I am not really a fan of D'Prince. I am a fan of Mohits as a whole but individually eeerrm (thats story for another day).
Well the first thing i always do before i click a song to watch or listen is to check out the reviews/reactions at the bottom and trust me they were very confusing so what the hell
ROTFLMAO that was me after watching the video. First off this is not a typical Sesan Video, I admit alot of people have said oh maybe he hasn't been able to show his excellent work because he's working with Mohits BUT truthfully this may be his best work yet. The quality and texture of this video was very impressive. The creativity and concept was another thing.
In all I think the synergy between Sesan and Mohits has helped developed him into one of this industries most sought after directors.
On some Trivial news:
Don Jazzy had on a T-Shirt (WHAT WOW!!)
D'banj is growing an afro?
Wande Coal is BACK!!!
D'Prince now officially has a 'Passe' (Ice prince, Wizkid etc)
Okay follow me on twitter and get all my rantings http://www.twitter.com/sfladipo

Travel This, Travel That!
Last week for instance, I was in Ajegunle for the first time and i was like a freaking tourist. I tried to get a good picture of somthing that looked ajegunle-ish but seriously it looks just like any other hood in lagos so i didnt bother.
Anyway i went to train some young people on business skills, risk management and building timelines for starting a business (I mean as a young business owner myself lol). Its amazing the young people i met that day, their strength, their ideas and their reslience. Im in love with Young people needless to say.
Other intersting things that happened this week???

So i currently have a 3 month multiple visa for South Africa (expires 2nd week in july), 3 month Brazil visa (Expired), 1 month Gambia ticket, and 3 months Schengen visa. I AM OFFICIALLY IN TROUBLE
Thats what i get for not paying for visas.

A good woman is proud of herself
She respects herself and others
She is aware of who she is
She neither seeks definition from the person she is with, nor does she expect them to read her mind
She is quite capable of articulating her needs

A good woman is hopeful
She is strong enough to make all her dreams come true

She knows love, therefore she gives love
She recognises that her love has great value and must be reciprocated
If her love is taken for granted, it soon disappears

A good woman has a dash of inspiration, a dabble of endurance
She knows that she will, at times have to inspire others to reach the potential God gave them.
A good woman knows her past, understands her present and moves towards the future
A good woman knows God
She knows that with God the world is her playground but without God, she will be played
A good woman does not live in fear of the future because of her past.
Instead, she understands that her life experiences are merely lessons meant to bring her closer to self knowledge and unconditional self love
Girl Smile you know you have it going on
So keep on keeping on

A good man will recognise you

Lil Wayne VS 9ice

T-Wayne ft Lil Pain-I cant believe it
Truthfully I really dont why but this morning I got to work and started jamming Mr. Carter's Album and decided hey why don't i share this feeling....
Lil Wayne who is MTV's Man of the Year has proven that once you find your sound then you're ready!!
Lil Wayne ft Bobby Valentino-Mrs Officer
The 26 year old singer born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. is now your favorite rapper's favorite rapper.
Like in Nigeria where 9ice dominated the charts, Lil Wayne has proven that he also has the '9ice' touch
If I love Lil Weezy then I am absolutely in love with 9ice
9ice whose real name is Abolore Adegbola Akande was born on 17 January 1980.
Now alot of people say 9ice doesn't do Hip-Hop nad yeah they're probably right but hey MTV saw 9ice fit to be in the same ecategory as Lil Wayne at the just concluded MAMA's. 9ice ofcourse won the award does that mean he is hip-hop??(probably not)
Ajas & 9ice-Le Fenu So
IMAO ofcourse, 9ice and Lil Wayne for me are similar becos, these are two very talented individuals who struggled behind the scenes for awhile just tryin to catch a break.....and they both did. Catching the audience with fresh sounds that introduced a seperate cult of followers.

Im totally enjoying this J Martin & 9ice track
JMartins, 9ice-Money Good

Recently, he sued the management of R-Kelly for chucking him out of R-Kelly's tour...The reason he was chucked...apperentl he was stealing Mr Kellz shine...(Co'mon kelllz)...Anyway Ne-yo won the case and went away with thousand of dollars.....
The single called "Miss Independent" is of his third album "Year of The Gentleman" which came out sept. 16... Damn what a lucky guy!!!!!

Songs Im loving this week
Even she admits that when she's on the stage she's a different person....'Sasha Fierce'...There's no doubt B is one of the most talented performaers and singers in teh world's history...She is the true defination of a DIVA......coupled with the fact that she's married to one of the most successful men in the game.
B and J are definately one of the Worlds most successful power couples....

My home girl B is slamming on this track...look out for all the hot singles from her new album I am .....Sasha Fierce....which features Beyonce first as Beyonce then as Sasha....
Beyonce-Single Ladies (Put a ring on it)

According to B
"The new record is a double album and has two covers, like a magazine would have two covers. One of the covers is named I Am and the second cover is named Sasha Fierce. That is my alter ego and now she has a last name. I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage, this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am. That's why half the record, I Am is about who I am underneath all the makeup, underneath the lights, and underneath all the exciting star drama. And Sasha Fierce is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm on the stage."
Beyonce-If I were a boy

Eldeee tha Don......Alwaya always been a huge fan of Eldee and the Trybe right from my days in Unilag.....
Trybes-men created the scene for Rap music in Naija and I know no one will ever forget most of their greatest hits......On this song he pairs up with the Yahoozee King Olu Maintain, Mr Capable Banky W and Del from Trybe Records.
My only but on the song is it doesn't sound as original as I would like it to be.....sounds too T.Iish......

WMA-Best Nigerian Artist?

I first heard this song on http://www.bellanaija.com
(Fantastic website that has so much info that even I who has been in the entertainment mix didnt know about, although to be fair my new job doesn't give me much time)
I saw 2face at the departure Lounge en route South Africa a few ago (although I was in the regular lounge and he just came down from the VIP Lounge lol)...He was on the way to Monaco for the World Music Awards where he scooped 'The Best Nigerian Artist'

Now thats the issue "The Best Nigerian Artist:"
The only question for me when I saw the detials of the awards (check out all the details of Nominess & Winners on http://www.bellanaija.com) was why the heck was there a 'Best Nigeria Artist' category???
I mean if you look at the list of nominations, there is Best African award already why the Nigerian award?? Dont get me wrong its not like I mind that 2face won an award...I mean 2face is my guy and everythin but I just have to wonder dont I!!!
Maybe we should ask Kenny & D-one!!

Meanwhile enjoy 2Baba's new which Im feeling!!

The World without them....
For a long time truthfully, men have ruled the world thanks to avenues like Culture (Which permits a man to beat his wife if she misbehaves or the community to shave the head of a woman if her husband dies), then lets not go into religion that gives permission to 'man' (that word again) to have complete dominion over the earth and all on it (women included) or that a man can in his capacity marry two or more women if he knows he can properly take care of them (Why weren’t women given such authority?).

These amongst others have contributed to the rise of male domination and belief that they can and should dominate over woman and frankly these are part of the frustrations women feel everyday in different aspects of their lives.
If a woman does not get a job she is a gold-digger, If she does get a good job she slept her way to the top, If she becomes a boss and is very good at her work then she must be a B*$@h, If she is a fantastic boss then her marriage is probably in trouble and then if her marriage is not in trouble then she must be ruling over her husband.
Wow, issues that makes it harder and harder for women to be what they are called to be “the helper’.

Yes sometimes it might seem like she’s pushing herself to the top but imagine the kind of stress she goes through everyday with men who will blame everything she does on the fact that she is a woman.
A lot of folks have complained about the new rise in feminism or maybe we should call it liberation of women from the mind set of what I would call ‘Semi-slavery.
Why do women want to drive the same cars their husbands are driving, or have the same jobs theirs spouses have or even make as much money as their boy friends are making....
For women the question is why not? This is a topic that boils deep inside event the most open-minded man in the world (Or should I say Africa??)
The most complex things in life are broken down easily when we all realize that we need each other as desperately as we think we don’t……What would we do without seeing our bruised sons after climbing tree after tree and running down the streets you deliberately told him no to run on, or our teenage son who is constantly looking for new gimmicks to steal your car keys and a few Azikwe’s fro
m your bag…..Or your husband, your spouse, your partner, your boy friend who holds you when everything else seems not to be working right and gives your world a lift…..What would we do without the husky hunky smell of ‘Our Man’?
What would we do without knowing the feel of the excitement from his voice or his hand, Oh Men!!!! What would we do???
Knowing, loving, losing is better than ignorance from love…..Love is a passionate feeling that even God himself gave us partners so we could experience the passion amongst ourselves….if it’s for that reason alone, then I’m grateful for ‘man’
At these moments, I truly appreciate not just ‘Mankind’ but Man, who gives us a reason to wake up and want to pretty up your face your hair and just generally feel good about yourself because you know that there is one certain specie of God that will look at you and say “Damn, you look good” Ladies whether we like to admit it or not that kind of statement gives you a hop in your feet and a sunshine in your smile…….
Thursday
To Fly......

Yesterday for instance I went to the airport to bid a good friend of mine who was traveling alone for the first time, she hates to travel so already she had bought her sleeping drugs and I had to use all my persuasive skills to convince her not to take the drugs immediately (trust me took it alot of spit)
Now don't get me wrong she was happy to be going to Paris (the city of love), thats been her dream for a really long time but thoughts (as always) kept zig zagging through my head.......she finally had to leave and I asked myself why exactly do we get a certain feeling of joy once we know we're leaving the country....I get that joy even when I'm flying to Accra....(Cotonou doesn't do it for me anymore....see finish is worrying me)
Is the joy from the fact that we're flying, or maybe its cos we know we will be missed, or for some the pleasure of knowing they have traveled and people around them know that fact as well...

For me, the joy on my face when I travel (Especially to somewhere new) is the joy of the unknown. the joy of the unknown airport which you can get lost in, unknown duty free zone where you can pretend like you want to buy something, the joy of the unknown airport security and the colors of their various uniforms, the joy of the unknown weather which you feel with the first step outside the automatic sliding glass doors, the joy of the unknown hotel receptionist, the joy of the unknown Shopping Malls, Museums, Art Galleries and for some Water Parks/Amusements Parks and finally the joy of the Unknown faces that will become good friends depending on how well you approach them.
Thats my joy...
Tuesday
The Female Fan

So maybe they speak the truth BUT.....I think it’s bad to generalize all women into a group of men loving sucker heads (even though we are), when guys are always constantly telling us not to generalize them as well….I mean I believe all men watch Porn….(You see some guys are reading this and going ‘What is this lady talking about’, but I truly believe there isn’t one man on the face of the earth who didn’t at a point watch and enjoy porn). If I want to generalize I could go on and on…..

Personally I love football, I mean what’s not to love about it, I might not truly understand what an off side is or what left center does but that does not mean I do not love football like the average man. In fact I think female fans are the most passionate football lovers in Nigeria (At least amongst the few that watch).
There are a few things to consider when you find out a woman loves football…..
1. Because she does not know much about the game, she has to show more passion
2. Women are said to be more passionate in general than men….I tend to see it that woman just feel more comfortable wearing their emotions on their sleeves than men…because guys see it as a weakness to show how you feel.
3. Only women can truly appreciate the ‘REAL’ beauty of football. (If you know what I mean)
Agreed there are more male football fans but does that mean that there are less passionate female fans? I beg to differ when a male fan just assumes that the only thing 'FANS' about are the REALLY hot and handsome looking guys in football (They really are hot).

Another reality is, the players are male and we are female, the fact that we love the way Fabregas spots his hair or the way Drogbs's band lays around his almost bald head does not mean we love the game any less.
I am sure it is just easy for men to make these assumptions to once again point out the fact that Men are more knowledgeable than women and that 'Football' is a man's game, a fact which we do not argue about (The second fact not the first because I know women are smarter) but at least give some female fans the credit. We do not only watch football to catch a glimpse of Kaka's cute face (Even if that was the first attraction), we watch football because it is without a doubt a fantastic game that contains a spirit which some women cannot find somewhere else.
There are so many other games that female fans are castigated for just being en masse followers and I cannot deny what pushes me to watch a sport like swimming (I mean do you see the torsos on those men…Oh the thought!!!). Its human nature to see a perfectly buffed out man who’s primary intention is to make me go crazy at a glance…..The trick works because after 5-6 games guess what Ill start to actually enjoy the real sport (Although some women never do leave their main concentration LOL)

We watch football to catch a glimpse of the talented players show off skills and score goals. We watch them because we love the teams we support; we wear their jerseys to show our loyalty to those teams.....Does that make us any less fans?
